A BRONX TALE: POOR SHOOTING DOOMS MARIST AT FORDHAM
- Updated: November 16, 2019

Red Foxes Shoot Just 27% In Loss
NEW YORK – The Marist College men’s basketball team made only 14 field goals from the floor on Saturday night, and the Red Foxes lost to Fordham University, 58-41, in a non-league game at Rose Hill Gymnasium in the Bronx.
Marist is now 1-2 overall.
The Foxes looked good early as Tyler Sagl hit consecutive threes to give Marist its first lead at 14-13. Zion Tordoff followed with three straight points to give Marist its largest lead, 17-14, at the 6:39 mark of the first half.
Fordham answered by taking the lead for good thanks to a 13-0 run.
A Michael Cubbage mid-range jumper in the closing seconds of the first half cut Marist’s deficit to 29-20 after the first 20 minutes.
Chuba Ohams’ basket at the 18:33 market built Fordham’s lead back up to 11, and the Rams led by double digits the rest of the way. Fordham’s largest lead was 21 points, which came on three occasions in the second half.
Matt Turner led the Red Foxes with 10 points.
Marist returns home for back-to-back games at McCann Arena, starting with The Citadel on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m.
