ANTHONY, ROOSEVELT RALLY FOR GYMNASTICS WIN

Presidents Beat Wallkill For The Second Time This Season

HYDE PARK – Franklin D. Roosevelt High School swept the top three spots in the vault, and the Presidents beat Wallkill for the second time in a week, 158.35-154.55 in a Section 9 gymnastics meet on Wednesday.

FDR is 2-0 overall.

“I had no idea what to expect. Oftentimes I go in and have a good idea based on what I saw previously, but Wallkill is so well-coached and so disciplined and I had no idea how it was going to go,” Roosevelt coach Dan Hassoun said. “Even when I was handed the scores it was still a surprise. It was a back and forth battle. Both teams should be proud of themselves.”

Angela Anthony won the balance beam with 8.25 points and tied Wallkill’s Miah Frisbie for the floor exercises. The two gymnasts tied for the all-around title with 33.05 points.

FDR swept the vault with the top three spots with Shannon Kelly posting 8.25 points, Anthony with 8.2 and Kaelin Grant with 8.1 points.
