Admirals Win First Home Soccer Match

FREEDOM PLAINS – Arlington High School boys soccer bounced back from a loss and evened its record at 3-3 Tuesday with a 2-0 non-league victory over Suffern.

Shaun Smith scored in the 47th minute on an unassisted tally for the Admirals. Two minutes later, Michael Cocca added the second goal.

Arlington’s defense was superb, as keepers Nick Grippo and Brendan Corrigan earned the shutout by turning back the only shot on goal by Suffern.

“It was nice to get our first win at home.  We created many chances but were unable to finish,” Arlington coach Craig Sanborn said. “We still have plenty of work to do but our group is working hard and we look forward to competing against Monroe Woodbury.”

The Admirals take on the defending state champions on Thursday.
