BARRY’S SHOT LIFTS HIGHLAND BOYS

Huskies Get Third Game With Marlboro In Sectional Semifinals

HIGHLAND FALLS – For the third time this season, hated rivals Highland and Marlboro high school boys basketball will square off, thanks to some resilience and clutch shots by both teams.

Dylan Barry’s three-pointer with .9 seconds left on the clock gave sixth-seeded Highland a 60-59 road upset of No. 3 O’Neill on Tuesday in a Section 9, Class B quarterfinal.

That put the Huskies into a semifinal showdown on Thursday at No. 2 Marlboro, which grinded out a 52-48 win over No. 7 Chester.

Barry only had six points in the game but none bigger than the trey to cap a 39-27 run in the second half that erased an 11-point halftime deficit.

John Scalo had 17 points to lead Highland, including 13 in the third quarter to lead the comeback. Cameron Ness had 15 points and 17 rebounds, and Sean Benkert added 13.

Darius Boben had a game-high 20 points for O’Neill.

AJ Musacchio had 20 points to lead Marlboro to its victory.

Zachary Bayon added a career-high 10 points, and Sam Mongelli and Gio Tamburri each had eight points.

Kevin Stein of Chester led all scorers with 26 points.

The Iron Dukes split the season series with Highland.
