Lourdes Girls Lacrosse Falls In Sectionals

BYRAM HILLS – The obvious is that the season for the Our Lady of Lourdes High School girls lacrosse team is over after a 14-7 loss to No. 1 Byram Hills in the Section 1, Class C playoffs on Saturday.

In reality, it’s the season in which the program turned the corner.

An 8-10 record marks the program’s highest number of victories in its six-season history, along with its first home playoff game ever and, subsequently, its first home postseason victory.

And with 19 players coming back next year, expect the good times to continue.

“We started six sophomores including our goalie. They come back a year older and a year more experienced,” OLL coach Mike Galantich said. “Four of those kids are 20-plus goal scorers. Defeat stings now, but we’re in a good place.”

Lu Clark and Grace Rappleyea had three goals each, and Maeve Connolly had a goal and an assist.
