Kingston, Rondout, Taconic Hills Field Hockey, Rhinebeck Boys Soccer And Wallkill Volleyball All Win

CRARYVILLE – It was a remarkable day Wednesday for extending streaks.

No less than five high schools won at least a second straight championship in three different sports.

Start with field hockey.

Three Section 9 championship games were held on Wednesday, and Kingston extended its amazing streak with a 13th consecutive Class A title thanks to a 7-0 win over Pine Bush.

Rieley Fitzgerald had the hat trick for the Tigers, and Hannah Timbrouck added two goals for unbeaten Kingston, who improved to 14-0 ahead of a Nov. 9 matchup with Lakeland in the state tournament.

Also in field hockey, Rondout Valley won its ninth consecutive Class B crown with a 4-0 win over Red Hook and Taconic Hills went back to back in Class C by beating Onteora, 6-0.

In boys soccer, Rhinebeck won its third consecutive title with a 5-0 win over S.S. Seward in the Class C finals. The previous two came in Class B.

Noah Lortie and Nakoa Zuger each had two goals as the Hawks await the winner of Saturday’s game between Southold and Greenport to learn their opponent in the state playoffs next week.

Finally, in volleyball, Wallkill won its second consecutive Mid-Hudson Athletic League title with a 2-0 win over Mount Academy in the finals. That was after also sweeping Red Hook, 2-0, in the semifinals.
