COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Marist Picked To Finish Sixth In Preseason PFL Poll

POUGHKEEPSIE – The Marist College football team was picked to finish sixth in the Pioneer Football League Preseason Coaches’ Poll, which was released on Monday.

Marist returns 12 starters from last season’s team, which went 5-6 overall and 4-4 in PFL play. It was the third straight year Marist had a record of at least .500 in PFL play. The Red Foxes earned a share of the league championship in 2013.

Marist is heading into its eighth season in the PFL. The Red Foxes have never been picked higher than sixth in the league’s preseason poll, but have finished in the top five (including ties) four times. This year marked the fifth time Marist has been picked sixth in the poll. Here is a look back at Marist’s PFL history:

The PFL’s regular-season champion will earn an automatic bid into the 24-team NCAA Division I FCS Championship for the fourth straight year.

Marist will report for preseason camp on Wednesday, Aug. 10. The team will hold its first practice on Friday, Aug. 12.

Marist opens the 2016 season vs. Bucknell on Saturday, Sept. 3 at 6 p.m. It will be the first of six games the Red Foxes will play at Tenney Stadium. Tickets are on sale, and for more information, please click here.
