Cornwall Runners Seth Bywater, Karrie Baloga Win Individual Titles

BEAR MOUNTAIN – Karrie Baloga covered the three-mile course at Bear Mountain State Park in 17 minutes and 50 seconds on Friday, and her first-place finish helped Cornwall High School girls cross country to the team title at the OCIAA Championships.

Baloga beat Monroe-Woodbury’s Jessica Pidgeon by 33 seconds, but the team race between the two schools was much closer as the Dragons edged the Crusaders, 49-51.

Warwick, Washingtonville and Goshen rounded out the top five.

After Baloga and Pidgeon, Goshen’s Kayla Schramm, Monticello’s Sarah Grodin and Cornwall’s Meredith Hickman went 3-4-5.

On the boys side, Washingtonville dominated with 49 points, defeating Cornwall (82), Mount Academy (97), Monroe-Woodbury (101) and Goshen (124).

After Bywater covered the course in 15:41, Goshen’s Nicolas Caneto, Monroe-Woodbury’s Andrew Yi, and Washingtonville teammates Thomas Garrison and Liam Gildea rounded out the top five.
