Blue Devils Beat Irvington In Boys Lacrosse

COLD SPRING – Seven different players scored on Wednesday – including a milestone for Mame Diba – as the Haldane High School boys lacrosse team opened the season with a 9-4 victory over Irvington.

Diba had two goals and two assists, scoring his 100th career point.

Darren Santos also had two goals for the Blue Devils, while Jagger Beachak, Sam Giachinta, Henry Weed, Riley Johanson and Thomas Percacciolo all added one each.

Beachak and Giachinta added two assists apiece.

“We played real well, real tough,” Haldane coach Ed Crowe said. “My defense and my goalie played very well as a unit.”

John Henkel made 12 saves in goal for Haldane.

The Blue Devils are playing a special game on Saturday against Eastchester that will be held at High Point Stadium on the campus of Rutgers University in New Jersey. Game time is 4 p.m. following Rutgers’ lacrosse contest with east coast power Hofstra.
