Patriots Go A Perfect 3-0 In The 31st Annual Event

WAPPINGERS FALLS – John Jay High School boys basketball finished a perfect 3-0 in the 31st annual Dutchess County Basketball Coaches Association Duane Davis Memorial Holiday Tournament, finishing up with a 72-59 victory over Beacon on Monday.

The Patriots played in the Auxiliary Bracket of the tourney, meaning they could not compete for the championship.

Nonetheless, their run in the four-day tourney was impressive and put Patrick Rooney’s name among the top players in the Hudson Valley. Rooney finished the game with 27 points and averaged 21.3 points over the course of the tournament.

Teammate Liam Ryan added 13 points. Quazir Hayes led Beacon with 18 points and Tre Smith tallied 12.

In the other three consolation games, Highland defeated Millbrook, 71-65; Roosevelt topped Pine Plains, 85-51; and New Paltz beat Spackenkill, 57-48.
