Gianna Caprioli, Amelia Booth Lead FDR Girls Lax To Win

MIDDLETOWN – Arguably, the best 1-2 punch in girls lacrosse this season has been Gianna Caprioli and Amelia Booth.

The Dynamic Duo from Franklin D. Roosevelt High School did it again on Thursday, scoring six goals and dishing out three assists each in a 22-3 victory over Middletown.

“They are really working well together at this point,” FDR coach Bret Booth said. “They’ve figured out that working together opens opportunities for them. They were unselfish today and created situations for some of our less experienced players to score as well.”

Brianne Fulling and Theresa Schiba had three goals each for the Presidents. Hannah Guarino has two goals and an assist, Aydan Schiller had a goal, and Bryana Centeno had a goal and five assists.

“It really nice to see our attack unit getting involved and becoming a threat to score,” Booth said. “Bryana Centeno did a great job of getting ground balls and finding the open cutters. Those type of plays have a big impact in a game. The team played very unselfishly. Thirteen on our goals were assisted.”

And the defense was solid, giving up just goals to Meredith Saint Vil (two) and Riley Van Dien.

“The defense is also working well together,” Booth added. “They are making it hard to for our opponents to get to the goal. When they do, goalie Anna Slater and eighth-grader Jaydyn Jones werethere to stop it.”

Slader had three saves and Jones had six.
