Middies Win 140th Annual Game Vs. Port Jervis

MIDDLETOWN – One of the great American high school football rivalries played out again on Friday, and on this night it was defense that kept the famed Erie Bell in Middletown.

Interceptions, sacks and fumbles were the norm as the Middies beat Port Jervis, 24-0, in the 140th annual Erie Bell game.









It was the fifth consecutive victory for Middletown in the rivalry game. The Middies improved to 1-2 overall, while the Raiders dropped to 0-3.

Chris Washington led a sterling defensive effort with two interceptions, including one returned 51 yards for a touchdown. Teammate Brandon James had a sack among his four tackles, and returned a fumble 10 yards for a touchdown.

Armel Duke recorded two sacks and a forced fumble.

Offensively, Robert Denson had a 50-yard touchdown run for Middletown.
