Millbrook Star/Marist Commit Returns From Injury

MILLBROOK – Erin Fox is back on the basketball court.

The Millbrook High School girls basketball star completed her arduous journey of recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her knee, returning to the court Friday night with 18 points as the Blazers beat Ellenville, 78-25, in a Mid-Hudson Athletic League game.

Fox, who signed her National Letter of Intent last month to play at Marist College, suffered the injury back in the spring while playing lacrosse.

She scored a team-high 18 points to lead the Blazers, her presence sparking Millbrook to a 17-3 lead in the first quarter.

“It’s going to take some time, and like everyone else with knee surgeries there will be ups and downs physically and emotionally,” Millbrook coach Adam Peek said of Fox. “But overall, from the time of the surgery until now, I think she’s doing very well.”

Natalie Fox added 13 points for the Blazers, Ella Wilson and Maddy Harkenrider had 12 each, and Emily Grassler added 10 points.

Ellenville’s Faith Flores led the Blue Devils with 14 points.

“It will be a process for her,” Peek said. “Hopefully, as Erin keeps working on her leg on her own with her strength exercises and runs the floor more with the team, she will grow in confidence and endurance.”
