FDR BOYS OPEN SECTION 9 SOCCER SEASON WITH WIN

Presidents Notch A Shutout Over Pawling

HYDE PARK – Cameron Ottaviani scored twice on Tuesday, and the Franklin D. Roosevelt High School boys soccer team opened play in Section 9 with a 4-0 victory over Pawling.

Section 9 canceled its entire fall season of play and will field boys soccer, girls soccer, football, tennis, volleyball, field hockey and cross country in the newly created Fall II Season.

Jacob Kosilla and Anthony Ojeda also scored for FDR, while Kosilla and Sean Goodman each had an assist.

Lorenzo Wilkins earned the shutout in goal.

It was the Presidents’ first game in 17 months.

“I thought it was great energy. We focused a lot on communication and that was fantastic. A total team effort,” Roosevelt coach Shawn Rigothi said. “For the kids being away for this long, and having seven practices, to turn it around that quick you have to credit these kids.”

Rigothi said he would be remiss if he also didn’t mention the high school staff.

“Our field was fantastic,” he said. “Credit to our groundskeepers and our athletic director, Tom Cunningham, just to get us outside and prepared and ready to rock.”
