FDR GYMNASTS STAY UNBEATEN

Presidents Win A Close One Over Wallkill

HYDE PARK – Depth has put the Franklin D. Roosevelt High School gymnastics team within striking distance of a division title.

The Presidents moved to 4-0 on Thursday with a slim 152.55-149.15 victory over visiting Wallkill. The two teams will meet again on Monday with FDR having a chance to clinch the title.

“We knew going in it was going to be close because we saw them last week and it was close then,” Roosevelt coach Dan Hassoun said. “We just had to stay clean and fight for all our landings.”

Wallkill actually won three of the four disciplines. Sisters Emma and Miah Frisbee went first and second in the floor exercises. Emma Frisbee won the uneven parallel bars, and the balance beam.

Miah Frisbee was the all-around winner, followed closely by her sister.

But FDR’s depth won the match as Danika Bolitho finished third in the all-around; Shannon Kelly and Emily Muraco went 1-2 on the vault; Bolitho, Clara Patton and seventh-grader Emma Jaeger finished second, third and fourth on the bars; and Patton led a 2-3-4-5 finish on the beam.
