Two MHAL Frontrunners Pick Up Home Wins

STAATSBURG – After splitting their two regular-season matches, all the Franklin D. Roosevelt and New Paltz high school boys golf teams can do now is scoreboard watch.

And they saw each other win again on Friday.

Joe Nesbitt earned medalist honors as FDR beat Marlboro, 165-193, and New Paltz had four players within four strokes of each other in a 163-198 win over Rondout Valley.

In the Presidents’ win over Marlboro, Nesbitt shot a 37 at par-34 Dinsmore Golf Club. Mike Bucholsky fired a 39 and David Remsburger added a 43 for FDR, and Ryan Shaw carded a 46.

For Marlboro John Ryder and Ian Leduc both shot 45.

At par-36 New Paltz Golf Course, Nick Puleo was again the medalist as he led the Huguenots with a 39. New Paltz teammates Oliver Watson, Josh Clinton and Kevin Metzger were right behind him with a 41, 43 and 40, respectively.

Ethan Koch led the Iron Dukes with a 47.
