Onteora’s Abigail Nolan Is The All-Around Champ

HYDE PARK – One word kept popping up all season for the Franklin D. Roosevelt High School gymnastics team.


It was no different Tuesday.

The Presidents used a terrific overall performance and won the Section 9 Championship Meet team title to earn a berth in the New York State meet.

FDR’s Dannika Bolitho finished in the top four in all four disciplines and second overall in the all-around to lead the way as the Presidents totaled 155.475 points, out-distancing Wallkill with 147.5 points. Kingston was third, and New Paltz was fourth.

The all-around champion was Onteora’s Abigail Nolan, totaling 34 points and edging Bolitho, who had 33.025 points. Nolan won the uneven parallel bars and floor exercises, and was second in the vault and on the balance beam.

Nolan and Bolitho lead a group of nine total gymnasts from Section 9 who will compete at the state meet on March 3.

The qualifiers include Roosevelt’s Shannon Kelly, Emma Jaeger and Clara Patton; Highland’s Valerie Precour, who won the balance beam; and Wallkill’s Miah Frisbie, Emma Frisbie and   Gabby Castro.
