WICCOPEE – It was a day for field hockey on Monday as the Section 1 Region Championships kicked off postseason play, and another rousing contest between Arlington and John Jay high schools led a quintet of games.

Isabella Kostyal tallied the deciding goal in a shootout, and No. 3 Arlington knocked off second-seeded Jay, 4-2, in a semifinal game in the Dutchess County Championship tournament.

It was a 2-2 game heading into the overtime periods and, eventually, the shootout. Jadyn Perrotta, Shannon Cunningham and Taylor Scrocca all scored during the penalty strokes for the Admirals while goalie Amanda Cimillo held off the Patriots.

Arlington will head to No. 1 seed Ketcham on Wednesday for the title game. The Indians looked overwhelming on Monday as Violeta Francese had her fourth hat trick of the season in a 9-0 win over No. 4 Our Lady of Lourdes.
