Saugerties’ Ben Fox Has The Best Round Of The Day

HIGHLAND – The Rondout Valley High School boys golf team kept its winning ways going, defeating Highland on the back nine of the Apple Greens Golf Club on Friday with a 164-253 vicctory.

Par was 35.

The Ganders are now 3-0.

Hunter Lapp led the way for Rondout, shooting a 37, the top score for either team. Tanner Bober shot a 41, Eric Paddock and Dan Harkin each shot a 43, earning the Ganders each of the top four scores in the match. As for Highland, Elijah German led the team by shooting a 54.

Meanwhile, on the front nine of the McCann Memorial Golf Course in Poughkeepsie, a par 36 course, Spackenkill defeated Ellenville 186-259. The victory moved Spackenkill back above the .500 mark at 3-2 on the season. Ellenville’s early season struggles have continued, as they dropped to 0-4.

Luke Whalen’s 39 led the match, while his teammates all chipped in key contributions as well. Oliver Katz shot a 44, Aidan Rogers shot a 48, Richard Decker shot a 55, and Billy Lucas shot a 66. For the Blue Devils, Koltin Pickell’s 55 was the best on the team.


Like Rondout, Onteora stayed undefeated after topping Wallkill by a score of 155–191. This match was played at Woodstock, a par 35 course. With the victory, Onteora advanced to 4-0, while Walkill is still looking for its first victory.

Onteora’s victory was powered by a well-rounded performance, with four players shooting no higher than 5-over-par. Avery Burns led the day by shooting a 37 while Adam Grady chipped in a 38. Adam Williams and Anthony Umhey each added 40’s to create the well-balanced effort. For Walkill, Carl Piperato’s 42 was a team-high, while Will Hernandez also added a 44.

And at Dinsmore, Connor Hart and Mike Bucholsky both shot 4-over-par 38 to guide Roosevelt to a 161-191 victory over Saugerties.

The Sawyers’ Ben Fox took medalist honors with a 35.
