Santos Brothers Fuel Offensive Outburst

CROTON-ON-HUDSON – Daniel and Darrin Santos combined to rush for more than 300 yards on Saturday, leading the Haldane High School football team to a 48-30 victory over Croton-Harmon.

The Blue Devils improved to 2-3 overall.

“It’s great to get a win,” Haldane coach Ryan McConville said. “The guys came out and had a great week of practice. They did a lot to get mentally and physically prepared.”

Darrin Santos rushed for 201 yards on 21 carries to help lead the offensive, while his brother, Daniel, ran for 107 and threw for 51.

The brothers sparked Haldane from the beginning when Daniel Santos scooped up a fumble and returned it 40 yards for a score to open the game, and Darrin ran in the two-point conversion. Haldane led 8-0 and never trailed, scoring 22 straight points after Croton cut the lead to 8-6 to take control.

Julian Forcello caught a 30-yard touchdown pass and Charles Benichoux ran for a 63-yard score for Haldane. It was the first varsity touchdown for each player.
