Huskies Improve To 3-0 With Another 40+ Effort

HIGHLAND – The story of the year keeps getting better.

Highland High School, one of the more moribund football programs in the area the last few years, won its third consecutive game on Saturday night, beating Ellenville 48-0.

For the second week in a row, Julian Meltz set the tone by taking the opening kickoff to the house. This time it went for 70 yards to stake the Huskies to an early lead.

Meltz also caught an 85-yard touchdown pass and scored on a 78-yard rushing TD. Throw in a 50-yard run that was called back by a holding penalty and the senior had almost 300 all-purpose yards.

Hezekiah Askew ran the ball six times for 78 yards and two touchdowns, and Matt Malheiro scored on a 3 yard run.

Defensively, Chris Hammond led the team with seven solo tackles. Josh Hanna had six tackles and a Pick-Six interception return for a touchdown. Anthony Terrell also had an interception.

This was the third straight game Highland has scored at least 47 points.
