Boys Lacrosse Nips Rondout, Will Play For Third Straight Sectional Title

HIGHLAND – By the looks of it, the Section 9, Class C quarterfinal game Tuesday between the Highland and Rondout Valley high school boys lacrosse team had all the makings of a shootout.

Seven goals in the first quarter had it playing out as a high-scoring game.

Instead, it turned out to be a barnburner as Highland nipped the Ganders, 6-5, to earn the chance to go for its third consecutive sectional title.

The Huskies will take on Red Hook, which had its own barnburner in winning courtesy of a late goal by Hudson Miller to eliminate Goshen.

Highland and the Raiders will square off for the title on Thursday night at 7 at Marlboro HS.

Christian Canino had three goals to lead Highland past Rondout, while Jack Young, Danny Rusk and Roger Hegeman had one each.

Jason Perez and Tomas Ludwig scored twice each for the Ganders, and Kyle Meoli had a goal.
