HS SOFTBALL: Chloe Weeks’ grand slam carries Lourdes over Arlington

FREEDOM PLAINS – Like any player coming to bat in a tie game and the bases loaded, Chloe Weeks was just looking for something to make contact with.

She made contact all right.

Weeks slugged a grand slam in the top of the eighth inning on Thursday, giving Our Lady of Lourdes High School a 6-2 win over Arlington in a league softball game.

The Warriors are now 7-8.

“I just happened to get my favorite pitch, low and inside, in a perfect count, 3-1,” Weeks told HVSR. “I turned on it and drove it out.”

OLL swept the two-game series with the Admirals this week after playing a great game against the state’s No. 1 Class B team, forcing Brewster to push across a run in the seventh inning to win.

“We’re playing really well and I think it’s a real confidence booster for everyone considering we are so young,” Weeks said. “Anna Anderson is pitching really well and is an absolute pleasure to catch for. She’s giving us a chance in every game and our bats and defense have all come together when we have needed them to.”

Abby Weks had another outfield assist in the game, gunning down a runner at the plate with a perfect throw to her sister to keep the game tight before Chloe’s heroics.
