Patriots Hold Off Raiders In Girls Soccer

WICCOPEE – John Jay High School scored the first three goals and held off a late surge by North Rockland, beating the Raiders 3-2 in a girls soccer game on Thursday.

Jenna Waldbillig, Ava Viebrock and Kari Horos staked Jay to a 3-0 advantage through the first 63 minutes of the game. But North Rockland made the last 17 minutes pretty interesting.

Carolina Tomas scored on a free kick from 25 yards out with 10 minutes left, and then added a penalty kick just seconds before the game ended to cut the deficit to one before time ran out.

John Jay goalkeeper Lizzy Lennane had six saves for the win.
