JOHN JAY GIRLS XC SHINES AT BOWDOIN CLASSIC

Patriots Win Varsity 1 Race


WAPPINGERS FALLS – John Jay High School won a thrilling Varsity 1 Race by nipping Somers for the team title at Saturday’s Bowdoin Cross Country Classic at Bowdoin Park.

The Patriots totaled 55 points to Somers’ 59. The aggregate was even closer – John Jay runners had a combined time of 1 hour, 49 minutes and 44 seconds; the Tuskers covered the course in 1 hour, 50 minutes and 42 seconds.

John Jay’s Amelie Guzman crossed the finish line first in a time of 20 minutes, 8.8 seconds, beating Dominga Rivera of the Marymount School’s time of 20:26.4.

Ketcham freshman Abigail Kowalczyk finished third.
