Patriots Win Three Big Three-Set Matches










WICCOPEE – John Jay High School had three-set victories at third singles and No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, propelling the Patriots to a 6-1 victory over Arlington on Wednesday in a girls tennis match.

Amanda Rao of Jay beat Minali Abraham Aggarwal at third singles in a terrific match, 2-6, 6-4 and 10-6 in a pro set to conclude the victory.

At first doubles, the Patriots’ Eden Konitz and Jingxin Song also went three sets, defeating Arlington’s Gianna Tomasulo and Ava Olivieri, 6-3, 5-7, 10-4.

And at No. 2 doubles, Phebe Webb and Cameron Coates knocked off Natalia Sabrsula and Angela Ye, 7-5, 6-7, 10-4.

Jay’s Catherine Tan and Tanmayi Rayasvaram won at first and second singles, respectively, while Vasuda Kilambi and Sarah Gosniowski were winners at third doubles.

Arlington’s Allie Olivieri and Gigi Goldfischer won their fourth doubles match.
