JOSIAH SMITH HOT AGAIN IN FDR WIN

Boys Turn Back Rhinebeck On The Road

RHINEBECK – Josiah Smith netted a career-high 22 points on Saturday, leading the Franklin D. Roosevelt High School boys basketball team to a 63-54 win over Rhinebeck in a Section 9 game.

The Presidents are 2-0 overall.

“We’re struggling to put four quarters together but Josiah’s leadership is really steering us in the right direction at the right time,” FDR coach Kevin Hart said. “He has good shot selection, great basketball IQ and he’s taking advantage of his athleticism. Same with Jordan, he did a real good job. And credit to Rhinebeck, they played a real good game. Very scrappy.”

Jordan Blue had 20 points for the Presidents and Hunter Vansteenburgh added 12.

Brendan Hynes paced the Hawks with 18 points and Alex Kenminster scored 11.

Saturday was the first game in a stretch that will see Roosevelt play six times in seven days to close out the abbreviated season, including a Sunday game at Webutuck.
