Indians, Admirals Will Wrestle In Tuesday’s Quarterfinals

SOMERS – For the first time in five years, the Roy C. Ketcham High School wrestling team is heading to the quarterfinals of the prestigious Section 1 Duals Tournament that kicks off every season.

The Indians easily dispatched Nyack, 66-6, in the first match of the four-team pod, and then went back-and-forth with host Somers before winning six of the last seven matches for a 57-30 victory.

Alex Rathbun, Matt Masch, Brendan Carroll and Safi Shahid all had two wins via pin in the two matches, while Chris Vanderlinde, Dylan Glickman, Ben Wilson and Dominic Censullo posted two victories each. Brandon Dotterman had a win via pin for the Indians.

“I was very impressed with the intensity that our boys wrestled with today. At practice we have been preaching to be aggressive and relentless and our team showed that tonight,” Ketcham coach Chris Perry said. “We have five freshmen and five sophomores in our lineup and I was proud of the way they stepped up.”

RCK, seeded 10th, heads to No. 2 Fox Lane on Tuesday for a quarterfinal match.

Arlington is also going to the quarterfinals after the No. 5 Admirals swept their quad. Arlington crushed East Ramapo, 77-6, and then beat Port Chester, 46-30, to advance.

The Admirals travel to No. 4 North Rockland on Tuesday.
