Indians Now Prep For Big Two-Game Set With Arlington

 

WICCOPEE – Ryan Mealy scattered five hits over six innings on Thursday, and the Roy C. Ketcham High School baseball team swept a two-game series with archrival John Jay with a 5-2 league victory.

The Indians, now 10-1 overall, have another big two-game set coming up – Saturday and Monday vs. Arlington.

“Good sweep, but we need to be better,” Ketcham coach Pat Mealy said. “We gave a lot of at-bats away and that’s a credit to Jay. John Jay is a good baseball team and I wanted to make sure we were focused on today and nobody was looking ahead.”

Ryan Mealy allowed just one earned run, struck out three and walked only one to pick up the victory.

“You know he mixed up his pitches today, fastball, curveball and changeup. He got himself into good pitching counts,” Pat Mealy said. “We didn’t help that much with four errors but he did a good job pitching in a big environment like that.”

Ben Tullo was 3-for-4 and had an RBI for RCK, Sean Camacho tripled in a run, and Aidan Marshall had a two-out, two-strike, two-run single to snap a 1-1 tie in the third inning.
