KETCHAM BOYS CLIMB INTO FIRST

Indians Post Strong Road Win At Arlington

FREEDOM PLAINS – The Roy C. Ketcham High School boys basketball team crashed the boards on Wednesday night, and crashed right into first place in Section 1, Conference I, League A.

The Indians pulled down 15 offensive rebounds and outworked Arlington, beating the Admirals 58-53 in a key game.

Both teams are now 8-7 overall and 3-1 atop the league; RCK started the season 0-5.

“We had a good first quarter and from that point on our offense wasn’t very good, our defense wasn’t very good and they wanted it,” Arlington coach Matt Hoyt said. “They wanted it on the boards. They came to play.”

Phoenix Bowman led Ketcham with 15 points and Brendan Cassidy added nine. RCK’s intensity never wavered, pounding the boards into the final quarter to break away from a 39-39 tie and getting to the free throw line a total of 24 times in the game.

“They were getting the rebounds, getting the loose balls, and you could see their energy go through the roof,” Hoyt said of the Indians.

Arlington’s Jack Sims led all scorers with 18 points. Delano Knox added 11 and Rashawn Grant totaled 10.
