KOSILLA SCORES TWICE AS FDR BOYS OPEN WITH WIN

Presidents Go On The Road To Defeat Haldane

COLD SPRING – Jacob Kosilla began his senior year in grand fashion on Friday, scoring twice to lead the Franklin D. Roosevelt boys soccer team to a 4-1 non-league win at Haldane.

Kosilla scored in the 42nd and 79th minutes.

“We will certainly have speed up front and experience with seven seniors,” said second-year coach Sean Rigothi, who led the Presidents to a 5-4 mark last year. “Graduating senior Dan Morrell (defender) was our anchor in the back last year. If we can build off his tenacity in the back, our defense will be in good shape. Our players will have to sacrifice for each other and play positions they normally don’t play in order to be successful.”

Sean Goodman had a goal off a header early in the game, and freshman teammate Jaret Cruz scored his first varsity goal in the 25th minute.

Cameron Ottaviani had a pair of assists for FDR and Lorenzo Wilkins stopped nine of 10 shots in goal.

Only Ryan Eng-Wong scored for Haldane.

“If we continue to get better each day, we will put ourselves in a good position throughout the season and postseason,” Rigothi said. “I know our players are excited for every opportunity.”
