Indians Get First Win With Shutout Of Arlington B

MAHOPAC – The Mahopac High School boys soccer team spread the wealth on Saturday, as the Indians bounced back from consecutive season-opening losses with a 4-0 shutout of Arlington B.

Arlington’s school is big, and its youth soccer feeder program so extensive, that it has a plethora of players that it breaks into two varsity teams. The Varsity A handed Mahopac a loss on Thursday after the Indians also were defeated by John Jay-East Fishkill.

“The boys played really well today and I was proud of their ability to rebound after the tough loss against Arlington on Thursday,” first-year Indians coach Chris Mulholland said. “I think this is a big win for us to get momentum to build through the rest of the season.”

Mario Bunjaj, Dimas Agustin-Mendez, Nick Biagini and Sean Vaughan all scored for Mahopac, all in the first half. Bunjaj also had two assists.

Nick D’Antona had seven saves to preserve the shutout.
