MAHOPAC CAPTURES LEAGUE WRESTLING TITLE

Indians Take Down Carmel For The Crown

CARMEL – You know that old saying about the sun, the moon and the stars aligning at just the right moment?

It could not have been any more apropos, nor sweeter, for the Mahopac High School wrestling team on Wednesday night.

The Indians not only captured the league championship but did so by beating its archival Carmel, on Carmel’s home mats, by the score of 45-30.

Mahopac dominated the lighter weights and the heavier weights to win the match. The Indians took three of the four matches between 99 pounds and 120 pounds with Christopher Morris a 6-2 winner over Christopher Nerys at 99; Angelo Centrone pinned Josh Rubin in 51 seconds at 113 pounds; and at 120 it was Aidan Muldoon over Leo Venables, 12-7.

The Rams won four out of five matches between 126 and 152, but Mahopac’s strength took over in the heavier weights as

Liam Condon (170), Brock Fitzpatrick (182), Safiullah Ahmed (220) and Londrim Hasanramaj (285) were all victorious.
