Girls Win, Boys Fall

MAHOPAC – Mel DeMeo had a game-high 19 points and Caitlyn O’Boyle had a double-double, as the Mahopac High School girls basketball team overpowered Ketcham, handing RCK its third straight loss in a 48-33 decision.

Mahopac’s boys also played Ketcham but lost, 54-44.

The girls won by 15 due in large part to a 16-5 run in the first three minutes of the game. RCK could never get back into it. O’Boyle had 16 points and 11 rebounds.

“We folded really early there. We turned the ball over. You name it, we did it wrong in the first three minutes,” Ketcham coach Pat Mealy said. “To our kids’ credit, we settled down after that but to try to come back from that kind of deficit was tough. It was demoralizing and it beat us up.”

Abby Mealy led Ketcham with 18 points, Camryn Greene added nine points, and Cali Chiocchi had six.

In the boys game, Ketcham was too much as it won its fourth consecutive game.

Defensively, RCK held Mahopac to just two points in the third quarter and entered the final frame with a double digit lead.

Phoenix Bowman had 17 points and Brendan Cassidy added 16.
