McGREAL’S FIRST-EVER GOAL LIFTS PAWLING GIRLS

Tigers Shut Out Dobbs Ferry In Road Soccer Match

DOBBS FERRY – What a time for the senior to get her first varsity goal.

Ever.

Aislinn McGreal scored off an assist from junior Haley Wahl, leading the Pawling High School girls soccer team to a 1-0 victory at Dobbs Ferry on Saturday.

The Tigers are now 2-1 overall.

Wahl launched a corner kick and McGreal corralled the loose ball in front of the net, slipping it past the goalie for her first varsity goal and the only goal of the game.

Sofia Carozza turned away two of Dobbs Ferry’s shots in the first half and Emily Farquhar turned away one shot in the second half to earn the shutout. Sophomore Alessia Cioffi  kept the pressure on the hosts with eight shots on goal. But Dobbs goalie Erika Totoro made 15 saves.

“The girls worked really hard today to create multiple scoring opportunities; unfortunately we were only able to capitalize on one of them,” Pawling coach Mike Gatta said. “Defensively the girls made the necessary adjustments to limit Dobbs Ferry’s chances to give us the win.”
