Warriors Sweep Past Game Poughkeepsie Squad

POUGHKEEPSIE – Kerry McKee and Sam Gentile both had strong efforts on Monday, leading the Our Lady of Lourdes High School volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep of Poughkeepsie.

The Warriors, now 2-0, won by scores of 25-10, 25-16 and 25-21.

“We kept the tempo to our speed,” OLL coach Emily Krieger said. “I feel like it’s one of the most consistent teams we’ve had.”

McKee had 15 assists, nine digs and four aces for the Warriors, while Gentile – a softball standout who became the volleyball team’s libero this year – had 13 digs.

“Sam creates a lot of chemistry on the floor for us,” Krieger said.

Grace Jentsch added 10 kills and three blocks for OLL, Lia Keenan had nine digs and four kills, and Hayden McElduff doled out 11 assists.

Krieger said she was impressed by the young Poughkeepsie team.

“I said to (coach) Jasmine (Schinella) that if you look at the score of the game game, we had to battle for every point,” she said. “Poughkeepsie is really scrappy and they can do things. They just have to find what works for them. I was impressed.”
