MILLBROOK BASEBALL WINS FIRST GAME SINCE 2018

VanDeBogart Shuts Down Webutuck

MILLBROOK – Now THIS was a long time coming.

The Millbrook High School baseball team won for the first time in three years on Friday, holding off Webutuck 3-1 in a Mid-Hudson Athletic League game.

The Blazers did not have a season in 2020, nor did any other team, when the entire spring slate was canceled by the coronavirus pandemic. But Millbrook also did not have a season in 2019 due to a lack of players.

“To get this victory is awesome,” first-year Millbrook coach Shawn Stoliker said. “This group has been together since modified. I couldn’t be happier for them.”

Tyler VanDeBogart pitched six innings for the Blazers, allowing just four hits, one earned run and striking out 13.

Webutuck pitcher Robert Caeners was equally as strong, striking out 10 in five innings and not allowing an earned run.

Jake Wilber led Millbrook with two hits and an RBI, and Hunter Stoliker had two hits and a run scored.
