Girls Lacrosse Takes Section 9, Class D Crown

NEWBURGH – New class, same story.

A year after winning the Section 9, Class C girls lacrosse title, top-seeded Millbrook High School went back-to-back of sorts – albeit this time in the newly created Class D – with a 16-4 victory over No. 2 James I. O’Neill.

That game was played at neutral Newburgh Free Academy.

The Blazers now get a week off before opening New York State play against Schuylerville at Ballston Lake HS on May 30.

“It’s amazing!” interim coach Dawn Harkenrider said. Harkenrider took over when coach Jillian Barnes went out on maternity leave. “The girls were so awesome to work with and it’s so exciting to be there to help them get to where they are.”

Kaitlyn Daly scored six goals to lead Millbrook while Brooke Babbitt added five. Isa Rosenzweig added three goals.
