MILLBROOK OPENS TITLE DEFENSE WITH WIN

Blazers Capture First Volleyball Win With Sweep Of Dover

MILLBROOK – Sophomore Sam McKenna had eight kills, six aces and five digs on Tuesday, and the Millbrook High School volleyball team opened defense of its Section 9 title with a 3-0 sweep of Dover.

Scores in the Mid-Hudson Athletic League match were 25-14, 25-15 and 25-11.

“For the first match of the year, I was very happy,” Millbrook coach Shawn Stoliker said. “We served well, served aggressive, and the offense didn’t hurt themselves. We were inconsistent in the preseason and today our ball control was awesome and helped our hitters get more comfortable.”

Freshman Erin Fox had six kills and four aces, Brooke Babbitt added five kills, an ace and two digs, and Hailee Peeze chipped in with five kills for the Blazers.

Arianna Ball led the Dragons with four assists, a kill and four digs. Calise Henry added three kills and three digs, and Paige Caruso tallied four digs and one assist.
