MILLBROOK – Fans of Millbrook High School basketball got the two-for-one special on Monday night.

In a doubleheader, both the Millbrook boys and girls won easily in Section 9, Class C semifinals to advance to their respective championship games on Thursday night.

The boys had three players in double figures in an 84-46 victory over Sullivan West. Colby Whelan had 22 points, Jake Daly had 19 and Patrick Kyle added 16.

Gabe Campanelli led Sully West with 16 points.

Millbrook will play Pine Plains at Mount St. Mary College in Newburgh at 7 p.m. on Thursday for the sectional title.

That game will be preceded by the Millbrook girls game as the Blazers moved into the title match with a 70-29 win over Pine Plains. The girls will face either Seward or Sullivan West.

Sam McKenna led Millbrook with 26 points, Erin Fox had a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds, and Claire Martell added 13 points.

Lily Brenner scored 10 points to pace Pine Plains.

“We played a solid game,” Millbrook coach Adam Peek said. “There’s a few things we still have to improve on. We hit some outside shots tonight and it’s always a little easier when the ball is going in. Pine Plains played us hard. Overall, a good first game to start the playoffs with.”
