Crusaders’ Soccer Shuts Out Valley Central







CENTRAL VALLEY – Connor McSherry’s one-man show on Friday helped the Monroe-Woodbury High School boys soccer team stop a mini-skid.

McSherry had the hat trick and teammates Pat Gillen and Joe Badalamente shared the shutout in goal, as the Crusaders beat Valley Central, 3-0, in an OCIAA match.

The win stopped a streak in which Monroe-Woodbury went loss, loss and tie in its last three games against Arlington, John Jay and Newburgh The defending state champions are now 6-2-2 overall while VC fell to 3-6.

Chris Ryan had a pair of assists for the Crusaders and Gillen and Badalamente stopped a combined three shots.

VC keeper Greg Osterhout made nine saves.
