Mount’s Travis Meier, Roosevelt’s Sarah Trainor Earn Individual Wins

STONE RIDGE – The Mount Academy and Franklin D. Roosevelt High School were the big winners Thursday at the Mid-Hudson Athletic League cross country championships.

The event was held at SUNY Ulster.

The Mount Academy ran to the boys team title, taking the top three spots and outdistancing New Paltz, 19-55. Roosevelt, Red Hook and Wallkill rounded out the top five.

Travis Meier of the Mount won the boys race in a time of 16 minutes, 15.32 seconds. He was followed by teammates Fred Goodwin at 16:19.70 and Ike Blough at 16:19.98.

New Paltz’s Riley Brutvan and Roosevelt’s Charles Canero finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

In the girls race, Trainor earned a 15-second win over Rondout Valley’s Bryce Hopper, taking the event in a time of 20:13.67. After Hopper’s second-place finish, Amelia Saint John of New Paltz was third, while FDR’s Lindsay Holland and Alexandria North were fourth and fifth, respectively.

Roosevelt accumulated 33 points to earn the team title, well head of Rondout Valley’s 80. Red Hook, Saugerties and New Paltz placed third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
