NELSON BREAKS WALLKILL HIGH JUMP MARK

Height Qualifies Him For National Championships

WEST POINT – The high school indoor track season is barely underway and already Anthony Nelson has a date booked for the spring.

At the national championships.

Nelson, the Wallkill High School standout, set the school record Friday at the OCIAA indoor track meet at the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Nelson leaped 6 feet, 7 inches, breaking a 19-year old mark by a quarter-inch.

“It was very exciting for Anthony and the team swarmed him in the high jump area immediately afterward,” Wallkill coach Leo Sladewski said.

The jump of 6-7 qualifies Nelson for the Indoor National Championships at The Armory in New York City in March.
