NEW PALTZ, FDR GOLF SET FOR ROUND II

Both Teams Win Ahead Of Wednesday Matchup

NEW PALTZ – So early in the season for such a showdown, but we’ll take it.

For the second time in two weeks, the New Paltz and Franklin D. Roosevelt high school boys golf teams will meet with Mid-Hudson Athletic League supremacy on the line.

Both teams made sure of that on Monday with victories. Unbeaten New Paltz topped Wallkill, 159-236, while once-beaten Roosevelt – the Presidents’ only loss was a season-opening defeat to the very same Huguenots – topped Highland, 168-198.

New Paltz and FDR will meet on Wednesday.

In the Huguenots’ win over Wallkill, Nick Puleo again blistered the course, shooting a 1-under-par 35 at the New Paltz Golf Course. Kevin Metzger shot a 40, Oliver Watson a 41 and Josh Clinton carded a 43. Wallkill’s low man was Carl Piperato with a 49.

In FDR’s win, Michael Bucholsky was the medalist with a 41, with teammates David Remsburger (42), Ike Rothman (42) and Joe Nesbitt (43) right behind.

Dom Mazzella shot a 44 for the Huskies.
