NEW PALTZ – The third time is still the charm for the New Paltz High School girls tennis team.

The Huguenots lost just seven games in five matches on Friday, beating Wallkill 5-0 and clinching their third consecutive undefeated Mid-Hudson Athletic League championship.

New Paltz is 9-0 overall.

“The girls are pretty excited,” Huguenots coach Scott Taylor said. “Going 9-0 and winning the tennis team championship for three years in row was beyond anything we thought would happen. I’m proud of their accomplishment, and I am especially happy for my graduating seniors who were part of this for all three years.”

Those seniors include Natalie Meyer, a 6-0, 6-0 winner at first singles; Ariana Rodriguez, a 6-1, 6-1 victor at No. 2 singles;  Emily Wong-Pan, who teamed with Eliza Behrke to take their first doubles match; and Pilar Duvivier, who along with Ruthie Crosby-Lizarde were 6-0, 6-0 winners at No. 2 doubles.

Aidan Hoover was also a 6-0, 6-0 winner for New Paltz at No. 3 singles.
