OCCHI EARNS MILESTONE WIN AS ONTEORA GIRLS MOVE ON

Eagles Beat Fallsburg, Draw No. 1 Spackenkill Next In Sectionals

BOICEVILLE – It took overtime, but the Onteora High School girls basketball team is moving on.

Juliette Patterson had a double-double, and head coach Andrew Occhi had to sweat out a milestone victory, but the fourth-seeded Eagles beat No. 5 Fallsburg, 56-46 in OT, in a Section 9, Class B quarterfinal game.

Onteora now heads to No. 1 Spackenkill for a Thursday semifinal.

 

Patterson had 24 points and 15 rebounds to help deliver Occhi’s 200th career victory. She also added three blocks.

Monroe Maki had 12 points, four rebounds and three steals for Onteora, and Erin Downs had two big free throws and two steals in overtime.
