PAWLING GIRLS SOCCER TAKES THIRD IN TOURNEY

Tigers Defeat Valhalla With 1-0 Shutout

BRONXVILLE – The Pawling High School girls soccer team defeated Valhalla on Saturday, 1-0, to finish third in the Bronxville Tournament.

The only goal of the game came at the 29th minute of the first half on a corner kick served in by Haley Wahl and finished by Olivia Fanuele.

Sofia Carozza was named an all-tournament player, controlling the midfield in the game against Valhalla and making 13 saves in goal in the game Friday night against Bronxville.

Emily Farquhar earned the shutout Saturday making three saves in goal for Pawling.

“It was great for the girls to get the win today after our loss to Bronxville (Friday) night,” Tigers coach Michael Gatta said. “the final score (4-0) does not reflect how tough the girls played last night holding the tremendously talented Broncos scoreless for 50 minutes.”
