PEREIRA GIVES, MAHOPAC GIRLS RECEIVE

Hailey Has All Three Assists In Soccer Win Over Somers

MAHOPAC – It was Senior Day for the Mahopac High School girls soccer team on Saturday, something that would be considered a bit of an oddity in only the second game of the season, but, well, 2020 right?

Accordingly, senior Hailey Pereira was in a giving mood.

Pereira assisted on all three goals, two of them to Mia Klammer, and the Indians nipped Somers, 3-2.

Mahopac’s Jenna Mayer had what proved to the game-winner at the 42:53 mark as the Indians improved to 1-1 overall.

“We were happy to leave with a win. It was a well-fought game with many opportunities on both sides but at the end of the day we’re able to pull out the win,” Mahopac coach Casey Carroll said. “Our team is still adjusting to many new players stepping up into starting roles and we are slowly making progress with each game.”

Carroll said center back Maddy DeCole “is doing a great job trying to model the new additions to our back line and showing what a true asset she is for the Mahopac team.”

Indiansa goalkeeper Madeline McCrosson got the win with eight saves.
