FREEDOM PLAINS – The Arlington High School baseball squad has big goals for this season and, despite a small sample size, so far they’re on track.

The Admirals won their second consecutive game to open the season on Saturday, coming out victorious against Roosevelt with a 10-1 victory.

The Admirals showed how deep their bullpen is by throwing six pitchers in seven innings, allowing just two hits and striking out 10.

Kevin Broderick started it off for Arlington with two scoreless innings, including two strikeouts and only giving up one hit, a single to FDR’s Kolongi Goins.

Austin Conklin, Pat Doyle, Vinny Schara and Sean Smith all contributed an inning for Arlington as well. For FDR, junior Bobby Lefevre pitched five innings with three strikeouts.

Arlington dominated on the offensive side led by Frank Vanzilotta, who went 2-for-3 with a single, double and three RBI.

Dan Jackson, Nick Lugo, Josh Ziegler and Charlie Peyton all batted in a run, while Dylan Fox added two RBI. Kyle Novak, Ben Berghahn, and Mike Peters all added a single to the long list of Admirals hits.

Kyle Landolfi drove in the Presidents’ only run in the fifth inning.
