Vikings Avenge Loss In Season Opener

KINGSTON – This time, much to the chagrin of the Chester Academy football team, it was different.

Valhalla High School dominated for more than three quarters on Friday night, and the Vikings beat Chester, 19-8, in a New York State, Class C quarterfinal game.

The contest was played at neutral Dietz Stadium in Kingston.

Chester had beaten Valhalla handily in Week 1 of the season, 44-22, but this time the Hambletonians ran into a vastly improved team defensively. Chester’s only TD came with 4:01 remaining in the game, not nearly enough time to mount a comeback from three scores down.
